We started a clinical study at Edogawa Hospital to design a "more comfortable and happy space" with the power of fragrances

CODE Meee Inc. (President / Kenji Ota, Yokohama, Nishi-ku), which provides optimal fragrances for individuals and companies, has started a clinical study at Edogawa Hospital (Edogawa-ku, Tokyo) to utilize our unique blended aromas based on emotional understanding through brain waves in medical and nursing care facilities in the future.

There is a unique odor in medical and nursing care facilities, derived from odors related to medical conditions (diseases, medications, etc.) and odors related to daily life (excretion, etc.), which has become a mental burden on patients, caregivers, and their families. Especially in the field of cancer treatment, the tumor-related odor unique to cancer tissues has become a problem in daily life, but a fundamental solution has not yet been established, and there is an urgent need for environmental improvement to enhance the QOL (quality of life) by reducing the stress of patients, caregivers, and their families.

CODE Meee is currently deploying Solution Fragrance, which maximizes the "condition" of workers from the scientific perspective of fragrances, mainly in office spaces. We will utilize this brainwave-based emotional understanding technology in medical and nursing care facilities to design a more "comfortable" and "happy" space for patients, caregivers, and their families. We started a clinical study at Edogawa Hospital, which is known for its pioneering cancer treatment and has earned the trust of the local community. This approach is different from the conventional research in the deodorization field, and we aim to create a more comfortable space by introducing 100% natural Solution Fragrance that is suitable for the unique environment of the site.

Edogawa Hospital, which is at the forefront of cancer treatment and has earned the trust of the local community, has colorful modern art exhibitions throughout the hospital. With the belief that "if the staff enjoys working, it will inevitably improve the quality of service to patients," the hospital incorporates playful visual elements, and has received positive feedback from inpatients. In addition to the previous visual elements, we will now focus on olfactory elements and explore the possibilities of creating a happier space for patients, caregivers, and their families. This led to our collaboration with Edogawa Hospital for the clinical study of CODE Meee's Solution Fragrance.

In the future, we will first verify the impact of fragrance testing in the palliative care area on environmental improvement from qualitative and quantitative perspectives. In the long term, we will develop Solution Fragrance optimized for the unique "odor space" associated with tumors, represented by cancer, to reduce the stress of patients, caregivers, and their families and improve their QOL (quality of life) with "happy fragrances."
