Improving the Work Environment with Scents in Employee Break Rooms

Sotetsu Group's Sotetsu Building Management and CODE Meee have started spatial presentation using original aromas in the employee break room of the commercial facility "Joinus" operated by Sotetsu Building Management, aiming to improve the working environment and employee satisfaction.

With an increasing number of companies focusing on improving ES (Employee Satisfaction) and workplace productivity, this initiative aims to enhance the work environment by leveraging the potential of olfactory elements that directly affect human instincts, memory, and emotions.

By diffusing a scent blended with citrus and floral notes using domestically produced natural essential oils and based on preference data accumulated and analyzed through CODE Meee's general-purpose services, we aim to promote relaxation and motivation for work.

Prior to the introduction, a test marketing using the same aroma was conducted targeting users of the Joinus employee break room last year, and compared to selected commercial aroma products, the original aroma received higher preference and more requests for continued use.

Based on the results of this test marketing, we have improved the understanding of distinctive scent preferences and more effective presentation methods, leading to the official introduction of the aroma this time.

Building on this initiative, CODE Meee will continue to strengthen scientific research on the correlation between scents that are expected to reduce employee stress and relaxation effects, and will continuously work on developing new blended aromas based on this evidence.
